Have you been thinking about trying it yourself?
If so, it’s important to know where and how to start. Today, heading online is the easiest and fastest way to get access to medical marijuana, but there’s a step-by-step process involved.
Ready to learn more? Today, we’re sharing how to get your online medical marijuanas card and why this is the smart route!
Why Do You Need a Medical Marijuana Card?
When you’re experiencing any type of discomfort, the idea of going through a process to get relief can seem burdensome. However, there are many reasons why it’s important to take the time to get a valid, authentic medical marijuana card.
First, it’s required for legal purposes. Marijuana laws vary by state, and it’s important to know your local regulations. In some states, a medical marijuana card is the only way you can legally consume cannabis or hemp products.
Second, it gives you peace of mind and assurance. Instead of finding a shortcut to medical marijuana, working with a verified platform like TeleLeaf means you’ll always be in contact with qualified physicians and state-approved pharmacies. You never have to worry if you’re following the right steps, completing the right forms, or shopping for the right products.
It’s like having your own advisor by your side, every step of the way.
1. Choose a Platform
When you’re ready to get your medical marijuana ID, you’ll have a few online options to choose from. Instead of choosing the first one that appears on your Google search, it’s critical to do your due diligence.
This is a health matter, and you need to be as discerning and thorough as possible. The platform you trust with your medical information should be well-reviewed, transparent, and valid. It should also have a history of success with patients just like you.
That’s precisely what you’ll find at TeleLeaf. We’ve served more than 27,000 happy patients through our simple, sound process. Our platform is safe, secure, and compliant with all HIPPA regulations.
It’s also quick and easy! When you go through us, you can start instantly and even enjoy same-day approvals! This way, you can get relief as soon as possible.
2. Register Online
If you’re interested in learning more about medical marijuana and experiencing its benefits for yourself, the first step is to register online with TeleLeaf. There are no hoops to jump through or red tape to maneuver.
In fact, all you have to do is click here to access our online intake form. There are five sections to complete, including:
- Basic information
- Personal information
- Medical information
- Profile completion
- E-signature verification
At TeleLeaf we’re dedicated to making this process as simple and streamlined as possible. We’re a premier medical marijuana access platform, connecting patients in need to qualified, experienced doctors who can help.
The heart of our mission is support and we’re built “for the patient, by the patient”. Our founder is a Marine Officer who discovered the healing properties of medical marijuana for himself and wanted to share those same benefits with others. We’re out to de-stigmatize medical cannabis and help you discover if it’s right for you.
If you have any questions while completing your registration form, you can reach out to our team by using the online chat widget. Our representatives are online and ready to provide immediate service from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
3. Complete Medical Form
As part of your registration process, you will need to complete a medical form. Here, you can share more about the condition you are seeking to soothe and help heal with medical marijuana.
Note that you can only access medical marijuana if you have a qualifying condition deemed acceptable by your state. Most of the time, these revolve around debilitating conditions, such as:
- Chronic pain
- Neuropathic disorders
- Neurodegenerative disorders
- Terminal illnesses
- Chronic conditions
In addition, you may also qualify for medical cannabis on what’s called a “diagnosis of exclusion.” In short, this refers to a medical condition that verifiably exists, but the presence of which a physician cannot establish with total confidence from either examination or testing. In the absence of any objective proof, the diagnosis rests on clinical grounds.
4. Connect With a Physician
Once you complete your online registration through TeleLeaf, we will connect you with a licensed medical cannabis physician. On the intake form, you will be able to choose the time and day that works best for you.
This physician will be specially qualified to work in your state. We recruit, screen, and personally hand-pick all of our physicians, so you can be confident in their knowledge, expertise, and abilities.
To date, we can connect you with expert physicians in the following states:
- New York
To learn more about each state, you can go to the top of our menu and click on the “States Supported” tab. Here you’ll find information on how to connect with trusted and registered doctors in your state. You’ll also see a list of all of the specific conditions needed to qualify for a medical marijuana card there.
You will only be able to register for a card if you are a resident of that state, being treated for a debilitating medical condition by a state-licensed physician or an advanced practice registered nurse.
5. Make an Online Appointment
Forget getting in your car, driving to the physician’s office, waiting in line, and completing a lengthy exam. When you pursue legal marijuana through TeleLeaf, you can attend your doctor’s visit right from the comfort of your own home!
We’ll even help you connect quicker than you thought possible. We have physician visits available six days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. That means you can attend an appointment on the very same day that you complete your registration!
You can access your appointment from your preferred device, including a mobile phone, tablet, desktop computer, or laptop computer. When you log in, you can expect the same degree of professionalism and simplicity you know you’ll always find with TeleLeaf. Each state has its own associated fee for this physician’s visit, designed to be affordable and accessible for all patients.
Once you’re logged in, the appointment won’t take long but will be thorough and complete.
First, your physician will take the time to learn more about you. Then, they will evaluate your condition. Finally, they will determine whether or not you qualify to use medical CBD or cannabis.
If you do not receive approval at this time, we’ll refund 100% of your money, so you have nothing to lose. TeleLeaf has high approval ratings and our program is very reputable. If your physician does not approve the use of medical marijuana for your condition, we’ll make sure you understand why.
6. Register With the Department of Health
Once you’ve completed your application and your physician has approved medical marijuana to help treat your condition, the next step is to register with your state’s Department of Health. We’ve included a link to this process on each of our state-specific sites, so you know exactly where to go and what to do.
Qualifying patients can complete their applications online. Before you do so, your TeleLeaf physician will initiate your application by certifying your status for the Department. This is the first step in completing your Patient Registry.
They’ll verify that they met with you and that you have a medical condition that qualifies you to receive a medical marijuana registration certificate. In their recommendation, they will also explain their conclusion that, in their opinion, the use of medical marijuana will bring more health benefits than risks.
Before they can certify you for the next step, your physician might need a few personal details, such as your email address and phone number. There will also be several documents and forms that you’ll need to provide the Department yourself, including:
- Proof of your identity
- Proof of your state residency
- Current photograph
- Registration fee
While this might be an extra step, it’s an essential one. Patients cannot register in their state’s medical marijuana system until their Department of Health receives a certification from a certified physician. This certification verifies that they diagnosed you with a qualifying condition and recommend this treatment course.
Note that the Department has the ultimate say in whether or not you receive your medical marijuana certificate. They will reference the information and documentation provided by you and your physician to make that decision.
7. Access Your Card
Once you’ve been approved by your physician and your state’s Department of Health, the next step is to wait! However, the good news is that you won’t have to wait too long.
Once you’ve paid for your ID card, it usually takes around 10 days for it to print. You should receive it in the mail within 14 days. Your card will go to the address provided in your patient profile, so make sure it’s correct.
Once you have your card in hand, you are ready to visit local dispensaries and purchase cannabis products. As you shop, remember to keep your state’s allowed monthly allotment in mind and do not exceed that limit. While you might be qualified to obtain legal marijuana in your state, you can still face legal consequences if you fail to comply with those regulations.
8. Connect With an Approved Pharmacy
Not sure where to start looking for medical marijuana? When your card comes in the mail, you can start using it to purchase products. Again, it’s absolutely critical to do your homework. You want to make sure you’re only purchasing cannabis products from pharmacies that are authorized to operate in your state.
Instead of assuming, why not start with us? We have an interactive, searchable map on our site that allows you to find qualified pharmacies in your area! In addition, we can also connect you with a licensed pharmacist who can answer any questions that you might have before you get started, such as:
- What different product types are available?
- What are the recommended dosages?
- What are the different routes of administration (ways to consume the product)?
- Are there any potential drug interactions I should know about?
You will receive an initial consultation with your pharmacist once you have successfully received a recommendation. You can also learn more about our licensed pharmacists through the testimonial videos shared at the bottom of our “Pharmacy” tab.
9. Purchase Medical Marijuana
After you’ve received your card and consulted with a pharmacist, you’re ready to start exploring all of the medical cannabis products that are available!
Some of the options that you might find include:
- Topical creams
- Cannabis tinctures
- Distillate syringes
- Gelatin-based edibles
- Metered-dose inhalers
- Raw form (flower)
Each state will have its own list of approved cannabis products. As medical marijuana programs grow throughout the United States, we expect more products will be approved and available soon. Your physician can recommend the type of medical marijuana that will be best for you, and your pharmacist can also provide guidance and answer questions.
