Medical Marijuana Card Access in Louisiana-Teleleaf.com Medical marijuana is fully and legally available to all patients who are qualified. However, even if you have access to medical marijuana, it could be daunting to see all the different forms of marijuana and find out which is best for you.

In this guide, we’ll go over the different medical marijuana options available.

Flower

Flower is the most popular form of medical marijuana and usually the “default” form when anyone discusses marijuana. Despite the popularity,  it was just recently that the flower was available in Louisiana (as of January 1st, 2022).

Flower is sometimes referred to as “bud” or just “cannabis”, but all these terms are referring to the trichome-covered part of the cannabis plant. It’s mostly consumed via smoking, but can also be vaporized or used as the main ingredient of edibles.

Inhaler

Inhalers are rising in popularity and are great for those who want fast-acting results. They are small, discreet, and easy to use; as well as having more cannabinoids per dose.

Very little of the dissipate is exhaled, which means that the people around you are exposed to much less “second hand aerosol”.

Tinctures

Tinctures- Teleleaf Tinctures are a very old form of cannabis consumption that is experiencing a renaissance. They are easy to store, portable, and can be taken in many different ways (e.g. drops under the tongue, in food/drink, etc.).

They’re precisely measurable due to their dosage, and they are also fast-acting because they are absorbed by the liver.

The effects of tinctures can be felt in as fast as 15-30 minutes. This means that they offer a more controlled and predictable dose than other forms of cannabis which is why some people find tinctures more comfortable to consume.

Topical Creams

Topical creams are great for people who dislike smoking or who have trouble swallowing pills and/or taking oil extracts. As the name implies, typically they are cannabis-infused balms, oils, or lotions that are rubbed onto the skin.

They’re also localized pain relief because they absorb quickly directly into the applied area. The only downside is that they tend to be less potent than other forms of medical marijuana, as well as having a delayed effect due to being absorbed through the skin.

Syringe

Syringe- Teleleaf A distillate syringe is a great way to get very precise dosing, and they are also very easy to use. Simply place the syringe underneath the tongue or inside the cheek and hold for a moment before swallowing.

Syringes are becoming increasingly popular as a way to consume medical marijuana.

Gel-Based/Chewables

Chewables- Teleleaf Gel  based chewables are typically much more potent than other forms of medical marijuana, making them great for people who want a high that will last longer.

They are a form of edibles that are easy to store and easy to take. However, there are a  few downsides associated with gel based chewables and edibles in general.

Firstly,  the dosage of edibles is more variable, which means that there is a wider range of possible effects.

Secondly, it can take up to 2 hours to feel the full effects, which means that they are not a good choice for people who want to use medical marijuana as an immediate pain reliever.

And lastly they can be easy to over consume because the effects are felt much later and more intensely than with other forms of medical marijuana consumption methods like vaping or smoking.

Despite these downsides, edibles are a popular form of medical marijuana, with sales of edibles growing more than 20% from $1.15 billion in 2020 to $1.38 billion in 2021.
